Tutti

Well...... no baby yet. Barbary is still hanging in there, or I guess I should say the baby is still hanging in there. I have been hustling around here trying to get a few projects done before she has the baby. Some of my jobs will have to go on hold for a while after "HE' is born.
In the meantime I am posting a pic of the new addition to our family here on the farm. Her name is "Tutti". I adopted her from the Licking County Shelter. She is wonderful! She is around two years old, and smart as a whip. She is fully acclimated to everything on the farm. She gets along with the cats, chickens, and barks at the horses, but, it doesnt seem to bother them. Maybe because she only weighs about 13 pounds. They consider her about as pesky as a fly, I suppose.
Tutti looks very much like a Cairn Terrier.
On the horse scene. Everyone is training well. Ruthie is two years old now. I dont know if she will race this year. I will just train her so far and see if she has what it takes to get there this year. Otherwise I will hold her over until her three year old year.
On a sad note. Harness racing is pretty much done for in this state. Due to the fact that we dont have slots at the tracks. All the business has been taken out of state. Ohio has always been the nations leader in harness racing, and now we are done for. Harness racing also is this states leading industry. We have more people racing horses than all the employees at Proctor and Gamble and the Honda plant combined. We buy hay, grain, use the services of farriers, vets, bookkeepers, accountants. There was an old saying "Everyone in Ohio has a Standard bred in there back yard." Well, that is in the past. I guess we will have to go watch hockey now.

This weather is FAB. I have really enjoyed the cool days, with sunshine. Great working weather.

Tutti IS a Cutie! Whew! She dodged a bullet when you adopted her. She's one lucky pooch.
About the racing thing, we just CAN'T have the evils of HARNESS RACING in this state!! Betting is the downfall of moral civilization isn't it?!?!
All the do-gooders of the world have no idea the harm that their stupid protests create. I like how you mention the many jobs created out of just ONE branch on the agriculture tree. Good post.

So what are you gonna do about racing? will you have to go out of state, too? very sad, isn't it? someone told me that farmers are now only 1% of the population. no wonder our voice is so small. and why do you need slots to watch the horses race? Love Tutti's ears! 13#- she's a BIG one! j
