continued from previous blog..........
We could hear the lady behind us on her cell phone complaining to someone how they had dressed the "triplets" so cute, and the adults in front of them wouldnt let them up front to see better. Soon came the tap, tap, tap on my shoulder. "Excuse me" said the mother of the herd of kids. "Would you mind letting the children stand up there?"
I had warned Kim not to move a muscle or they would surely take over. Here I was faced with this dilemma to move or not to move. I then allowed that one of the kids could stand beside me, and they could take turns getting a peek. That's the best I could do, considering I had now spent two hours standing in the same spot. I then suggested perhaps their father could put them on his shoulders so they could see better. That was that.
The secret service was crawling everywhere. One had positioned himself right in from of Kim and me. It was so hard to keep Kim from trying to strike up a conversation with him. (you know Kim, she can make friends everywhere she goes). So, she says to the Secret Service guy, "My you are dressed handsomely" Of course, he doesnt even acknowledge her comment. She soon got the message that it was futile to try to talk to those guys. We were first entertained by a country singer. I cant recall her name, but she was good. The kid beside me kept wiggling and squirming, and bumping me. I just calmly told her that if she didnt stop I was going to through her to the rear of the crowd. Of course her mother didnt hear me say that. The kid decided it was in her best interest to stand still.
Then the moment came, HE was there, Senator John McCain, and his wife Cindy. He gave a rousing speech for about twenty minutes. Kim and I soaked up all he and Cindy had said. Then it was time for them to exit stage left. McCain starting shaking hands with the folks. He wasnt coming our way , and we were within 15 feet of him. Eeeh gads! What could we do, there we were with our hands outstretched looking like a starving rabble of peasants. Then from behind us one of the young guy students yelled, "Dont do that do us McCain, come over here!"
Thats when he turned around and started our way, and then........ His eyes met mine........my eyes met his............. "OH SWEET MYSTERY OF LIFE AT LAST I FOUND YOU." Yes, he came right over and shook my hand. Then he shook Kims hand. Kim shook Cindy's hand, and told her what a great person she was. Cindy was very pretty in person.
The "triplets, had to go to the bathroom, and their mother was sick of yelling at them. So, the way I see it they just kind did there selves in with their silly plan to have the triplets in the front row.
I know that deciding to go to that rally was a great thing to do. I will always remember what a great opportunity it was to see John McCain, and having so much fun with my buddy Kim.

Oh sweet mystery of life i finally found you! You are too funny!!
It WAS an exciting night and you handled those "triplets"quite well. I liked your suggestion of just having them trade places every few minutes because afterall, they ARE triplets!!
From our political exposure(we DID shake THE man's hand!) I predict we will soon be considered royalty.
Have you washed your hands since? What a good post! I laugh every time I see a new one (even before reading it!!)
What a hoot! So the triplets missed the big moment. Funny how things work out isn't it?
To the Queen: wonder if john mc. would appreciate your home made mac and cheese?
